Rosemary and Biotin Scalp Oil, a Pre-Shampoo Treatment | Salon-Selected

A 100% plant-based hair and scalp oil from KITSCH, built around rosemary extract and biotin in a base of argan, jojoba and castor oils. It is an antioxidant-rich blend meant to nourish the scalp and the length of the hair, and it carries a lavender scent from plant-derived fragrance.

This is a pre-shampoo treatment, not a leave-in. Massage the oil into the scalp, leave it for at least 10 minutes, then shampoo it out. That order matters: the oil works on the scalp and loosens buildup while it sits, and the shampoo carries it away so nothing heavy is left at the roots.

The formula is free of parabens, phthalates, silicones, sulfates and artificial fragrance, and it is Leaping Bunny certified. The bottle is recyclable aluminum and the dropper is made with recycled plastic.

Selected by Delena Markland, a licensed cosmetologist with over 25 years behind the chair. Oil is one step in a scalp routine, not the whole routine. If your scalp runs oily, keep this strictly pre-shampoo and wash it out fully, because a scalp that feels stripped tends to answer by making more oil. For a deeper reset, pair it with a scalp scrub from The Pixie Garden Scalp Protocol, keeping the scrub step to every 7 to 10 days, and use the Scalp Oil Applicator to put the oil on the scalp instead of your palms. When the hair is dry and styled, finish with the Hair Finishing Stick to smooth flyaways without adding oil back to the roots. If you are seeing real thinning, that is a ProCell conversation, not an oil.

Works best for: all hair types, a dry or tight-feeling scalp, a weekly pre-wash scalp massage, loosening buildup before shampoo, and anyone building a rosemary scalp routine.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use this scalp oil?

Before you shampoo, apply the oil to the scalp and massage it in, leave it on for at least 10 minutes, then shampoo it out.

Is this a leave-in hair oil?

No. It is a pre-shampoo treatment. It goes on the scalp before washing and is shampooed out afterward.

What is in the oil?

Rosemary extract and biotin in a blend of argan, jojoba and castor oils, with a lavender scent from plant-derived fragrance. It is free of parabens, phthalates, silicones, sulfates and artificial fragrance.

Can I use scalp oil if my scalp is oily?

Yes, as long as it stays a pre-shampoo step and is washed out fully. Delena's view is that an oily scalp is often a stripped scalp overcompensating, so the goal is a balanced scalp, not a bare one.

Will rosemary scalp oil regrow hair?

No oil can promise that. This oil is for scalp care and hair condition. If you are noticing thinning, a ProCell consultation is the right next step.

Is this scalp oil cruelty-free?

Yes. It is Leaping Bunny certified.
