Pintail Comb, Edge Brush, and Teasing Comb -- Professional Precision Set
Three tools. Three specific jobs. One set that handles the precision work that a standard brush or comb cannot do.
The pintail comb parts cleanly and precisely. Straight parts, diagonal parts, sections for braids, cornrows, and updos -- all of them require a fine, pointed tail for accuracy, which a wide-tooth comb or paddle brush cannot provide.
The edge brush smooths baby hairs and edges with the level of control and definition that a toothbrush hack or a DIY edge tool cannot match. This is the professional tool for that specific task, and Delena selected it because it is the detail that separates a finished style from an unfinished one.
The teasing and smoothing comb does both in one pass. The fine teeth on one end create the backcombing volume needed for updos, half-up styles, and any look requiring lift at the root. The wide teeth on the other end smooth the surface after teasing for a clean, polished finish.
Delena's Technique: How to Use Each Tool
Pintail comb -- use the tail end to create your part before any product goes in. Clean, dry hair with no product buildup gives you the sharpest part. Once the part is set, avoid redoing it -- every time you re-part through product, you disturb the root direction you just established.
Edge brush -- apply a small amount of the Hair Finishing Stick directly onto the brush bristles rather than onto the hair. This gives you control over how much product reaches each section of the hairline. Work in the direction of hair growth, then smooth against it to lay the hair flat, then smooth with growth again to seal. Three passes gives you the edge result most people are trying to get in one pass.
Teasing comb -- backcomb at the root only, not mid-shaft. Hold the section straight up from the scalp and work the fine-tooth end downward in short strokes, no more than an inch at a time. Use the wide-tooth end to smooth only the surface layer -- not all the way through -- or you undo the volume you just built.
Works best for: all hair types for precision parting, edge styling, updo construction, and finishing work.
